First established as R.A.W. Equipment Co., Inc. on November 14, 1983 R.A.W Equipment offered full dealership functions of Sales, Service, Parts, and Rental of Compact Equipment.
On January 1, 1984 received a contract from the Melroe Co to be the local dealer for Bobcat products. The dealership was established in a 2,000 square foot building on Route 9 in Howell, NJ on the Monmouth - Ocean County borderline.
On October 1, 1988 moved into a new 10,000 square foot building on four acres located on Route 33 in Howell which is the present headquarters for the Garden State Bobcat Group.
The Corporate name was changed from R.A.W. Equipment Co. Inc. to Garden State Bobcat, Inc. in 1991.
Garden State Bobcat, Inc. (GSB) was named a Top Dealer for Melroe Co. from 1989 through 1992. GSB was also named the National Top Sales Dealer for a Japanese Mini-Excavator Manufacturer for the years 1985 through 1988.
GSB expanded to another facility in 1989 named South Jersey Bobcat Co Inc. which is located in a 7,500 square foot building on 1.5 acres on Hurffville-Crosskeys Rd. in Washington Township, Camden County, NJ.
Bobcat of Central Jersey was established on April 1, 1999. It is located in an 8,000 square foot facility at 398 Lincoln Blvd. in Middlesex, Middlesex County, NJ. The location was established to assist in coverage of Hunterdon, Somerset, Union and Middlesex Counties. A new 10,000 square foot facility opened on Route 22 in Greenbrook in December 2005.
Bobcat of Trenton was opened on January 1, 2003 to better serve the Mercer County area and the other local areas. It is located on North Clinton Ave right in downtown Trenton which is an Urban Enterprise Zone and affords many benefits to our customers including reduced sales tax for purchases made in Trenton.
In April of 2004 all locations were named an IR Utility Dealer which is comprised of the Light and Compact Equipment Divisions of Ingersoll-Rand. This includes Air Compressors, Light Towers and Generators, Light Compaction and Rollers, Concrete Equipment, Fork Lifts, Tractor Loader Backhoes, Wheel Loaders and Mini Excavators.
In 2004 it was decided to name the four operations as the "Garden State Bobcat Group" with changes to the advertising and logo's to reflect the changes that have been made over the last 20 years. The Garden State Bobcat Group serves the Central and Southern Parts of New Jersey and Staten Island.
